bad start's

when i start my ds the starter makes a long starting noise and some times a big cracking noise .!! hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder whats wrong.

Starter pinion or solenoid.

Remove the starter and check the teeth.
Also, bench test it for proper solenoid response.
