I won the ragged DS on EBAY for $ 2,400 but Im thinkin about backin out. It is pretty trashed and I am unsure of the engine status. Can you guys tell me what you think. Can i make this a decent quad for an extra $ 1,500.

laydawg- I wouldn't personally touch a quad in that shape unless I was there to personally and thoroughly go over it- this guy doesn't take care of his crap!
if you have 4k to spend buy a DS in great shape with it , they are easy to find in that price range.
you are looking in the right direction

Keep in mind, the water in the oil is most likely the same problem that most of us have had, water pump seals!
Tires, bearings, an exhaust and pump seals should have it in fine working order. If I weren't so far in debt, I would be all over it. Send it to me and I'll send you the $2400 when I sell it. LOL

If you won the bid, you own it. I hate it when bidders back out, and the seller is within his rights to get the money from you anyway.
I think for $2400 you did allright. If I was looking right now I would have been all over that machine. With a little work, you could have a customized DS for the price a lot of us spent on our stockers. I agree with what Knutz said, get some parts that need replacing on order and get ready to roll up your sleeves!
