Can't Shift from F to R when engine running
After sitting for a few months, we got my Redcat 150 started today and I was about to hit the woods when I discovered that I could not shift from Forward to Reverse or Reverse to Forward when the engine is running. It shifts fairly easily when the engin is turned off. Any ideas on what is causing this and is there any adjustment I can make to correct it.
Thanks! Tanman |

I would have to guess that a gear chipped in the reverse trans. You would have to drain the gear oil, pull off the front sprocket and take the trans cover off to see what things look like in there. It is not hard to do at all. There is 3 gears in there! I would bet one chipped and you will need to replace it. We do also carry the gears. Hope this helps!

Bill,
Thanks for your reply. Can you describe where I should look to see if this nut came loose? Is it external or internal to the reverse gear box? What does the reverse gear box look like? Is it the box that the mechanism moves the shaft in an out when shifting from forward to reverse and vice versa? |

it was a external nut, down on the shaft that slides back an force on top of the reverse gear box , mine was loose not leting full stroke to engage the reverse gear or if it was in reverse then won't let it engage in forward gear, i added a lock washer and loctite, simple fix but took me awhile to locate the problem

Thanks, I'll check all the joints in the linkage and make sure the nuts are all tight.

does the idle seem higher than normal, you may idle it down as much as possible. I know my polaris does the same if it's idle is to high!
