Looking to purchase 80-90cc atv's for my kids

I am looking at buying 2 80-90cc atv's for my kids, possibly for christmas. I have been looking at the many different named brands out of china, and at the moment considering the Redcat VX-80. I am also looking at the MPX-150 for my wife and me to cruise around on. Botht he VX-80 and the MPX-150 have CVT drive systems, which I believe is like a snow mobile, a belt on 2 constantly adjusting pulleys, that adjusts automatically for torque or speed as needed. I have a Comet Torq-A-Verter II that I put on the kids go-kart, and I assume that the CVT on these atv's works like this does. Any advice or experience with the Redcats and the CVT would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has opinions on a different brand of these China made atv's that is better in quality, parts availiability, etc., please let me know.

Just looking for advice from people who may know.

Thanks

Here is another vote for the Desert Cat 90. Kolpin is the same pretty much, but it comes with
reverse, but not a foot brake like the DC90.

Only had a few loose bolts on the Unison other than that running like a champ.

Thanks for the input. Took ma look at the desert cat and kolpin. I would much rather stay with a 4 stroke machine and not have to deal with the 2 stroke oil. Also 4 stroke will be a little quiter in the area I live. Any suggestion on the 4 stroke machines? Have any of you seen or ran these Redcats?

Thanks

tmh,

There is no oil to deal with on the 2 stroke 90's. Just add oil to the oil tank and the injector does the rest. No changing oil. Just add gas and go. The 2 stroke is easier to take care of. And as for the noise the 2 stroke 90' s are extremely quiet. Even quieter than alot of 4 strokes. Tghe dc90 and kolpin are very easy quads to take care of, low maintenance, lots of power, nice suspension, low price. If you want 4 stroke then you will pay big bucks or go to Chinese. If you go chinese. If you go Chinese go with raceway.

As 2MTs said the oil thing on the 2 strokes is a non issue. I use Golden Spectro in my
kids and it is just fine. Noise is not an issue either with my neighbors....our riding lawn mowers are far more noisey than my kids Desert Cat 90 and my 400EX.
That is until I get a new pipe for the DC90 then I am sure it will get a bit noisier. :-)

Thanks for the imput. I will take a closer look at the 2 strokes with this info in mind. I'll let you know what I decide.

Best thing to do is to check them out in person if you have a dealer near you.

The 2006 Polaris Predator 90 is pretty similar to the Unison, but has a better suspension
seems there is a Polaris dealer on every block...might be worth looking for one. The new 2007 Outlaw 90 is a four stroke so you might be able to kill two birds with one stone on that.

Thanks Darren,

Who makes the outlaw 90? I've checked out the polaris 90's. Only problem there is that they pull a pretty penny for a young person to grow out of in a few years.
