Just bought a 150G quad made by Tao Tao. Going though it and checking everything before I start riding. I see it takes 15W40 oil, but cant find anywhere on how much it takes to fill it. Going to drain and refill but need to know the capacity. Also just regular automotive oil since this doesnt have a wet clutch? No need for motorcycle oil? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Their is a sight glass on the side of the engine for level, it takes less than a ltr. I just used a good quality atv oil in mine or rotella T6 if i have some left over from my other machines. Oil is not the place you want to save a $ on. If you bought it new the dealer should have done a oil change and drained the shipping oil out of it. On ours i changed the oil went out for a ride for a few hours then dumped and changed the oil again.
Most of the time you will need less then a Quart. Usually about half of one of these:
If you live in Canada, Canadian tire has these. 1 Quart or Royal Purple Synthetic is your best option. I must warn you they are not cheap.
After you add half, make sure you bike is level, and check your dip stick.
Checking your dipstick will always give you the best idea on how much oil you may need, or if you have to much. Pore slow and check stick a few times to get it right!
