2007 Polaris 500 Sportsman ignition dies

This sportsman 500 when it runs, runs great. It has a ton of miles and hours on it but still runs strong. From time to time while plowing snow, it would just die. Then there is no power anywhere. turn the key on and it is totally dead. I have had to tow it home and let it set for several days and then all the sudden it starts and runs fine. there is no warning of when it wants to quit. I am told there are 4 small wires that run through the harness from the key towards the starter and they often break. Any help would be most appreciated

If an efi model, the pdm or ecm as it's called here was bad about shorting out. All the circuit breakers are inside and possible this is wha's happening. When you loose power to the dash you can check to see if power is going out of the module. Check wires that have power and then when you're able to crank it up check the wiring again. If other wires are powered up at that time then sounds like it's the problem. Expensive module new, over $400 but one place rebuilds them for $150 here.https://modulemaster.com/rebuilds/sh...bution-module/ Item#11 on the parts break down. Also pull the connectors on the left control switch, sprays some electrical contact cleaner in the cracks and work the on/off,over ride light switch back and forth. Use some electrical grease on the connectors at the switch. This switch can sometimes cause problems also. You're the second one today with similar problems. 2006 model 500 loosing power also. They both share the same pdm module. You can look at those posts in the Polaris section. Plus that's where you need to post future questions or results, not the Chinese section..
