Taotao 250 won't start
Hello I have a 2015 taotao 250 that won't start. The starter works fine but it doesn't turn the motor over, engine is not locked up it turns over by hand. Has anyone experience something similar to this? If so how did you fix it?

Don't know what engine the 250 has, but all quads I have come across (except Suzuki LT80) have the starter driving a train of gears, or a chain, to a one way clutch behind the flywheel. This turns the flywheel when the starter is engaged, but the flywheel doesn't turn it (being one way) once the engine is running and the starter stops.
The clutch has to be removed from the flywheel and usually replaced with a new one. I have got the "3 rollers with springs behind them" type to work with new springs, but the type that looks like a roller bearing is toast if it is slipping. |
I did replace the starter clutch, but seems as if the screw that holds the flywheel and clutch together loosens its self because I'll tighten it and clutch won't slip but only like one turn and starts slip again
|
Like I wrote above I don't know that engine but usually the clutch spins round on the starter gear and, if this is worn where the clutch runs on it, a new clutch won't fix it.

That is the part I replaced. Also when I remove the spark plug the clutch won't slip. So maybe I have too tighten the screw more? Idk lol slowly giving up |
