200cc chinese quad won't start
Hi forum,
I have this 200cc Chinese ATV, that won't start. I have thoroughly cleaned the carb - new oil - new sparkplug - new battery - new gas. When trying to start it sometimes makes a little sound/growl from the engine. Any ideas here? Also, does anybody know what is under the hex bolt red circled? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/atvconn...5e150ab2e.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/atvconn...f9d78d1cb.jpeg |
Valve adjuster, also known as a rocker, that is the cover for the inlet adjuster. There will be a matching one at the front for the exhaust valve adjuster. Set them, then, if it still won't start, check compression.

Okay, will try that. Now i found out that the spark plug rarely sparks. Have tried old and new one.
Most be a electric issue then i guess. Any suggestions how to move forward here? |
Do the help diagnose stator tests in the sticky at the top of the engines section. Ohm readings shouldn't be taken as gospel, different bikes have different sized stator coils, but dead short, or open circuit, where there should be a resistance, does indicate a fault.

I had a motor with intermittent spark like that and it ended up being the CDI. Just a suggestion if all else fails.

That is what the stator tests are for, if all the coils and wires test out OK at the CDI, it has to be a faulty CDI.
