Who runs Holeshot XCT's???

I had not run XCT's for quiet a few years. I always felt a little tall and tippy running them, so for recreational riding I have been using the shorter Holeshot XC's. But, XCT's are the hot setup for desert racing, so I thought I would give them a try on the 450R. They are mounted on ITP Baja rims. This rim/tire combination widens the rear by +3" and the front by +2". (Any added stability, is very welcome!) Also, seems like the tires are made of a softer rubber, than I remember from the old days???

Anyway, I am getting almost 6" of clearance underneath my DG Baja swingarm skid plate! I have not noticed that the bike feels particularly tall or tippy, even though I have not yet widened the front end. I am however getting a serious amount of headshake, maybe from unbalanced tires??? I do have a Denton steering stabilizer that I have not yet installed, so that might help. The 450 is geared tall, so I am going to need some gearing changes too.

I basicly only ride trails,,,most of which were probably better suited for a 4x4 quad. (the more difficult,,,the better)
Bouncing off rocks all the time.

When I went to the 22" xct's I noticed a huge difference. I dont go thru as many skidplates,,,thats for sure.

I really like the 6-ply and the larger tires seem to handle the rough terrain a lot better.

I would reccomend them to anyone for trailriding. I love mine.

Oh,,,and they do seem soft,,,,but they also seem to be lasting better than I had expected

Had them on my 400EX, and now have them on my DS. I think they're awsome, but are definately wearing faster than a standard Holeshot.

I use them for GNCC racing and Harescrambles. Their awesome for those events and the additional cleareance. If you go to the XCT's I recommend going up a tooth or 2 on the rear sprocket.

I switch wheels and tire for motocross to get a lower CG.

I put them on my Blaster and love them but I need a bit more power to push them or perhaps add a couple teeth to my sproket as suggested. I do a lot of varied riding and these things are really good in all conditions so far, and wear nicely. I was surprised at how well they climb up sandy loose hills.

as i thought.

so, reconranger, you've got 6in of clearence with these tires/wheels?! i was thinking about getting the same combination to have more clearence. however, i just ordered a Pro-Tect stainless steel skid to replace the (now) trashed baja... hopefully the tires and better skid plate will make a nice difference on the trails.

I am seriously rethinking these tires! Might just go back to the Holeshot XC's that I have used (and loved!) for years. Trade a little clearance for some stability.

I like the clearance for rocky areas. They're not tippy either as the width increase makes up for it.

23" XCT holeshots fronts, 22" rears.

Ran them on a Banshee, Warrior, and still need to try them out on the Preddy Twins.

i got-em on a warrior and love-em....the only complaint is that there a little heavier then others but the lack of flats is worth it
