Hi all, this is my first post.

I just got my first ATV, it is a '96 TRX200D.
The tires that are on it are kinda wore, so I was gonna put new ones on it. I was wondering if I need to get exactly the same size, or can I go bigger? Currently I have; 21-7-10/22-9-8 Which of these numbers has to stay the same??
Also, any suggestions as to which type (brand and model) of tire you perfer? I am going to use this mainly for deer hunting, but also light work around the place. Mostly woods, little mud or water.
Thanks!

sup bro you can use any tire that you prefer. (brand wise) the size of the tire is also up to you. you can go as big as you want or as small as you want. as long as the tire "fits" on your quad. just loike a car you will need clearance. it's all up to you. happy tire shoping!

Actually that statement is wrong. The third # must stay the same. That is your rim size and any other # in that third spot will not fit your rims.

So...with afore mentioned current sizes...what could I go up to?
I have found it kinda hard to find those sizes in tires....
Thanks again

Try the Maxxis front pro up front and the surtracks in the rear(BETTER THEN THE ALL TRAVKS) in the mud.I would try to stay with the same size or go no larger then 22's.

Does the width of tires change anything to do with power or such? I understand how the diameter would change gearing, but I don't see how the width would change anything.

Thanks again.

Wider tires affect your clearances, how the quad will handle, steering effort and also a wider tire might also weight more, the more it weights the more power it takes to turn them.

My brother has owned an early '90's 200. We too had to replace the tires on it. The first problem we found, was that good year seems to be the only manufacturer that makes a 22x9x8, and they weren't exactly impressive with the design and durability. So we opted to go with cheng shin wooley copies on the rear(22x11x9) on ITP aluminum( to compensate for the weight of the 9" rim) and the 4 ply(AT)bandits up front (22x7x10) mounted on ITP alum. rims. This combination worked perfectly for the kind of riding that he did. I wish that he still had it, because I thought it to be a perfect trail machine. NOTE-we did not put the bandits on the front for performance(obviously not from that bike!), but merely, because, they were the cheapest at the time and were readily available.
