What does anyone think about putting some of those shiny douglas alum. wheels and say holeshots all around on my 2000 300 ex.How much of a difference would the 20 in tires make from the 22 in tires.I would like to have a flatter profie rear tire like to 400 ex.Will the increased low end pull be worth what i lose on top end? What sprocket would it be best to change to get back to stock ratio. Most of my riding is done in sand pitts, but i could ride anywhere anytime,so i want the quad to be all around useful.Any ideas would be appreciated.

i had a blaster years ago an put 18 inch tires on the rear. When i rode it around there was no 1st gear because of the tire ratio. I then changed the countershaft sprocket up 1 more tooth and the bike ran great.
Changing your tires to a flat tire rather than the stock kind of oval tire will increase your handling the bike will not tend to go on 2 wheels when turning.
What kind of tires are u buying?

Whatever tire i can get that is good al around and last.I was thinking of razors,or bandits.Maybe holeshots, but i read that they don't last long.

I run 20x11-9 Holeshots on the rear and
21x7-10 fronts. They are great. They give great traction, give plenty of ground clearance for trails and are good on the mx track too. As far as wear they don't wear down that fast compared to turf tamers and razr's.

Scotster750,
I have the XCT holeshots on my 400ex and they are great. The flatter profile wiil give much better handling since the tires wont roll over on their side. with the 22`s you wont have to change gearing either. If you go with the 20`s I would just go up one tooth on front sprocket that should keep it close to stock gearing. I`m from Osceola AR. about 40 miles north of you. If you do get new tires and wheels let me know cause i would like to buy your stock wheels. Maybe we can ride together some time. Where do you ride?

speedyEX,what did you do to counter for the tire ratio change?or does the quad do fine anyway? With my stock tires the quad wants to flip up on two wheels constantly when cornering even in sand. This really gets annoying when trying to hang with my buddy on his 400 ex.I think i may just change the rear tires since their the ones giving the most trouble.

Mostly i ride in the sand pitts outside marion,ar.But am always looking for new places.I've only had this ex for 3 weeks now so i haven't had much time scouting areas. Some guys i work with(Chuck hutton Chevrolet)in memphis go to pickwick lake in TN,and coldwater miss.Supposed to be some pretty good riding in both places.
I'm just praying for some snow to play in.To hell with all this rain. Why can't it do it in the summer when the farmers really need it?Anyway i've a buddy with a 400ex he's had for about 8 months we usually ride together.Keep in ouch.

i have some directions and think i can find it pretty easy. E-mail me and let me know when you are going to ride.

I was wondering what you guys do to mount tires? do you do it yourself or have a tire shop do it. If you mount them yourself how do you break the bead?
