27's on grizz 660

anyone running 27's on there grizz, have you had any axle issues with a tire this big?? i only have 25's now but got a good deal on 27's-mudlites, not sure if i want to run them or not.

I see people running them alot but the weak point of the grizz is the axles. If you dont go in thick deep mud I think you will be fine otherwise I would only go to 26".

A friend of mine rides his Grizzly with 28" tires and gorilla axles on all 4 wheels. He still breaks the axles quite a bit. He say's he would like to step back down to the 26" tires. Check your tire choices closely some 26" tires actually measure out to be 27s with full knobbys.

I have 27x12x12 mudlites on my 06 grizzly. put them on when i bought my quad a year ago and never had any axle problems. I think it was the 03, 04 grizzlys or something that had weak axles.

Oh and i ride my grizz like i stole it, deepest, thickest mud i can find, water, street, gravel etc. make own trail in the bush by plowing into trees etc, lol.

Wouldnt worry about throwing on 27's on there and no reason to baby it with them on either.

thanks for the info, have you heard anything about stiffining up the rear shocks to help prevent rear axlepull out or ar you shocks still at the stock settings?

I cranked my shocks/springs as high as they will go for more stiffness and more height. I was able to do the front by myself with channel lock / plumber pliers. The rear i couldnt get at it to turn them up as i cant get my wheels off, lol. Had the dealer crank up the rear when it went in for its first servicing.

My opinion it rides alot better when stiffer. The 27's do fit though even when not cranked up. When i have a rear passenger on though and hit a bump, the tires hit the rear fenders, there kinda forming the shape of the tires into the rear fenders. Not really a big deal to me though.

thanks for the info. I'll have to stiffen up the shocks on mine there still at the factory setting.
