Just showing that it doesn't have to be a car. Like I said in previous posts any car, truck motorcycle or SUV an be turned into an Interceptor by the people that build them. It's not the Ford, GM, Chrysler, Dodge, or any other auto makers factory that does it. It's specialty emergency auto builders that do the transformation from a series vehicle to a Interceptor. A police interceptor by definition is something to chase down a fleeing vehicle. It does not need to haul prisoners to jail. Look at the Mustangs and Camaro's Interceptor. No rear doors. Highway patrols in every state use motorcycles as interceptors. In SC we use BMW motorcycles. Maybe we could use the space shuttle as an Interceptor? That goes around 18,000 mph. Makes the SR-71 looks slow huh:-p

We were talking about Ford cars and you show a link to a Suzuki Hayabusa and say it's not a car. Well, guess what? It's not a Ford either. You mentioned an interceptor that's not a car and I mentioned a different one. Then you say something aout the space shuttle, but the space shuttle was never designed or used as an interceptor. The Blackbird I was talking about was. You seem to have trouble staying on topic, even when the current topic is WAY off topic already. BTW in case no one noticed yet, interceptors have nothing to do with 2-ply vs. 6-ply ATV tires. And like I mentioned several times already, Ford says that the Crown Vic is the only interceptor they make. THEY say their trucks, vans, including police vans, and SUVs, including police SUVS are not interceptors. If you think they are, then you can go argue with Ford about it. But it still doesn't matter how many times you say something contrary to them, they know more about it than you do because they make and sell those vehicles.

I brought up a motorcycle because you said an interceptor HAS to be a car and I proved you wrong.
Where on earth do you get your information? The SR-71 was a long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft, not an interceptor. What could an aircraft do intercepting something when it didn't have any way to defend itself? Maybe they would tell him to land or else....what?? They could pass him?? Come on. It's sole purpose was to be high and fast enough to not be able to be tracked by AAM or SAM's. The Space Shuttle INTERCEPTS the space station in orbit. So the Space Shuttle is more of an interceptor than the SR71 ever was.

I got my information from school, books, magazines, TV shows, talking to pilots and other people, the internet, the library, air shows, and other places. Where did you think I got it? The psychic friends network? I said that the Lockheed YF-12 was designed and built as an interceptor, not the SR-71. You want me to re-read other posts but apparently you don't even read through mine once. The SR-71 was built as a spy plane to replace the U-2, but the YF-12 it's based on was an interceptor. If you won't listen to me, and can't figure out what the difference is between the 2 aircraft, have someone look it up for you. The YF-12 could shoot you down with a few AIM-47A air-to-air missiles. I wouldn't say it has no way to defend itself. Like I already said the YF-12 was an interceptor aircraft, and the space shuttle still isn't.

Yeah man post them up!! How much you putting down on how many lbs? Jumbofrank I saw your comment above and didn't realize you mentioned 2 jets. But anyway...The YF-12 was never put into production, it was a test plane. Which makes the Russian Mig 25 the fastest interceptor actually put into service @ 2,385 mph. Still faster than the YF-12

Good one dude!! Straight from the source. And if you ask him I bet he'll tell you that the Tahoe was purchased from an aftermarket emergency vehicle builder. They get them from automakers and then custom build them to customer specs.
