Tire size confusion???

I know it has been asked a million times but im putting swamplites on my 450 king quad an im not gonna switch rims so i was wondering since i have 25x8x12 up front and 25x10x12 out back can i up size them to 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 out back with no problems? And also i was wondering about the power issues for the 450 and bigger tires? would i need a clutch kit or should i be ok? Thanks.

Twall667,
I don't know alot about the Suzuki and there clearance, but on the Polaris stock widthis 8" up front. I went to a 9" wide tire up front and had to buy a set of 1" wheel spacer's to clear the tie rod end. As for the clutch kit I would install one if I were going up in size. Put a message into Rick Ritter, he will set you up with what you need on the cluching. He rove's around on the Polaris forum.

If you can't get him someone will have his #

Thanks Outback31, I looked into a dalton clutch kit im getting... so far it seems to be one of the best to get as hopefully everyone thinks, and im gettin it put in up at my dealer were i got it. But i asked them about tires they didnt know about them either even thought they thought maybe they would fit... but they werent so sure about the tires fitting on the factory rims.. so if anyone has put the tires im getting on factory rims let me know so i know im not gonna be SOL with 385 bucks of tires i can use ya know? Thanks

Not sure about wheel clearances of that model, but yes a 12" stock rim with a 8" or 10" wide tire can mount a wider 10" or 12" wide tire,as for your clearances from the ATV working out?not sure.

We changed the tires on a 660 Grizzly from 25 x 8-12 , 25x10-12 over to
26x10-12 , 26x12-12 on the stock rims with no spacers needed also.

Tire size confusion???

I put 27 inch tires on my 07 450 king quad the problem i had was that you need wheel spacers or they will not fit or you can take the traction bar out and a dalton clutch is highly recamended and if your mechanicaly inclined you can do the clutch kit yourself it is easy it took me about two hours to tear it down and put it in and back together remember to torque the prmary clutch bolt to 80 foot pounds.

Thanks that helps a lot I am for sure getting a clutch kit then do you need any special tools like clutch puller or anything like that? Im a mechanic so im pretty good at tearing stuff apart just didnt know what i needed so didnt really want to tear it down with to ideal what im doin... Shreker08 did you get a dalton kit? and if ya did where the instructions pretty good? or do you know a link of some sort that explains how to tear down install an such? let me know thanks again.

The easiest way to do it is take the right floor board off take the step off undo your brake pedal take the plastic cover off i think they are 8 mil socket then take the cltch housing off then all you have to do is take the centernut on the primary out and the clutch will slide off no puller needed when you have the clutch off put it on the bench and pull the center out replace the rollers with the new ones that come with the kit and reasemmble your machine make sure you tourqe the primary bolt to 80 foot pounds i believe another tip is that you take two bolts from the plastic housing and screw them into the secondary clutch that will make it easier for you the clutch kit from dalton will have all these instructions with it they are very good and you really cant screw it up if you have any qeustions when you get it you can call me on my cell 802 258 0606 I will walk you through it if you need hope i can be of help
