Newbe 2000 Kodiak 400 Ultramatic?

Hello All! Greetings and Salutations!
Newbe here needing a little help!
1 of the guys on the motorcycle forums steered me here for answers and any help given will be greatly appreciated.
I traded for a 2000(? not sure) 400 Kodiak Ultramatic a few years ago for my dad to use around on the farm. I haven't ridden it much at all, matter of fact not been off the farm with it.
It has never had anything done to it except normal maintenance since I traded for it. It was repossessed in Florida for some reason, so I traded my Racer Quadzilla for it from a dealer in the local area. Since I didn't race anymore it was much more practical for use on the farm than the 500 / 2 stroke.
Had a breakdown last weekend with the Kodiak I need some help with.
Symptoms were:
At about 10 to 15 MPH, gravel driveway, light throttle going to heavy throttle, something went haywire.
It rattled a slight bit like a u-joint being shaken and then it lost power to the transmission.
Engine runs fine (no noise) and you can roll it around in neutral, but don't have any power to the transmission in 2 or 4 wheel drive, high or low or in forward or reverse.
Anything about this sound familiar?
I suspect clutch or belt but didn't have the time nor have I ever worked on a 4 wheel drive ATV either manual or automatic.

Thanks Wheily
Don't know squat about automatic ATV clutches!
Would this be a handyman special (do-it yourselfer) or would that require special tools, if that is what it turnes out to be?
I'm pretty handy on motorcycles , cars, trucks and other vehicles!
Clutch very Expensive?
I can't find model #, only the vin on the lower left side frame tube, so I'm not exactly sure about year model.
How do you decipher the vin into model #?
