New Kenda Sand Tire, "Gecko"
#1
I was going through my May 2001 Dirt Wheels Magazine and saw an ad from Kenda Tire Mfg. advising that they have a new Sand Tire.
There is a picture of it on the top of page 94. It is called the "K534 Gecko."
It has a radical design that I have never seen before. Has anyone seen them or tried them out yet?
I am wondering if they would be durable enough to use on pavement and hard pack while riding to get to the Sand Hills I ride in Mexico. With the double ridges on each side of every paddle, I am hoping it will be more durable, yet still act like a paddle tire.
Take a look at it and let me know what you think!

I HAVENT SEEN OR HEARD OF THE TIRES YOU TALK ABOUT, BUT IN MY ROCKY MOUNTAIN CATALOG THEY HAVE A TIRE BY GBC CALLED THE PADDLE MASTER IT HAS "ULTRA THICK BLADES, AND IS FOR SAND, SNOW AND MUD" THE TREAD ON THEM LOOKS LIKE ONE SOLID BLADE THEN A BLADE THAT IS BROKEN (SPACED) INTO TWO. IT LOOKS LIKE IT MIGHT BE HEAVY ENOUGH TO DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WITH IT.

I looked in my 2000 Rocky Mountain catalog and they don't have it in there.
I went on-line and they don't have a photo of it on their web-site.
I tried doing a "search" on-line and couldn't find any other sites that have a "Paddle Master." Even GBC's Homepage doesn't mention it.
Do you know any where else I might be able to find a photo of the Paddle Master tire?
Thanks!

rob4092 I have seen both the Dirt Wheels ad and have the new Rockey mtn. catalog just looking at the pictures the paddle master appears to have much thicker paddles, the blurb says things like "ultra thick blades" "can run in mud and snow and sand" while runing on pavement is going to be hard on any paddle I think these will take it better than anything else I've seen. I'm kinda busy right now but I'll try to scan it in tonight and email it to you, I liked the look of the Geko's myself, with the paddle gussets and multi segment paddles but my hard pack riding is limited to between the camping spot and the dunes and no pavement

DS and Spanky:
Thanks for thr info.
If either of you could e-mail me the photo, I would very much appreciate it!
Please note my e-mail address is not the one ATVING defaults to. I have tried to change it many times without success. Anyway, my actual e-mail address is listed below.
Thanks again!

Dirt Wheels, May 2001: The adjoining advertisement that covers the next four pages after page 94 is from Kenda. The Gecko tire is on the last page of the advertisment. Since it is an advertisement, it wasn't assigned an actual page number. However, it is between pages 94 and 96.
What do you think about the Gecko tire?
