Welding rearaxle and ring gear 2000 325 magnum

has anyone ever welded the rear axle and ring gear of an older solid axle machine?

I have welded stripped out axle splines on one of the hubs on an old Honda. What part needs welding on yours? Is your ring gear held
on by splines in the axle?
