I have a stock 2001 Warrior. Stock rims and tires. I was thinking of going with the Douglas Red Label .190 aluminum rims and a full set of Maxxis Razrs. I heard that the .190's are alot heavier than the stock rims. Is that true? I do mostly woods riding and some gravel and hardpack. Are the Razrs going to get good grip for this type of riding?

Nah, its BS.. I bought .190 douglas's and blackwaters for my blaster, they were lighter then the stock tires and rims.

Did you buy the same size tires and rims as it comes stock or did you go smaller?

brokemybanshee Jun 22, 2001 01:11 AM

The stock tires were 22x10x8? The blackwaters are 6ply(?) with alot more tread, 20x12x8. I went smaller BUT they are big beefy mud tires so the acutally weight of the rubber was probally around the same. The aluminum rims were alot lighter though. Aluminum is REALLY light, for instance, take a solid steel bolt and put it in your hand, then try to match that with aluminum foil, there will be ALOT more aluminum to equal the weight of the steel.

Those stock rims are stronger, unless you add wheel rings.

Don't get .190's. your stock rims are stronger.

Yup .190s suck. The best wheel ive seen is the Hyper technology Carbon Fiber wheels. They are pricey, but badass. They are lighter than aluminum, and the strongest thing out there.

"They are lighter than aluminum, and the strongest thing out there. "

They may be stronger for their weight, but composite -anything- in a variable infinate stress important area may not be the best, steel will bend when forced, carbon wheels-whoops bumped that opstical a bit too hard, getting towed out now.

Elrancho,
I definately see what you are saying. But ive read in more than one place that Travis Spader broke axles and blew shocks trying to bend or break these wheels, but never did.
