pismo in a 4x2 truck
Just air down and have fun. If I can make it in my Daewoo anything can make...unless the sand was as bad as it was the last time I was there. EVERYTHING was getting stuck it seemed like.
Just remember a long handled shovel, some carpet (haven't done that trick but I keep hearing about it) and you can make it.
Get as close to the water as you can without actually getting wet.

I got stuck in May (9-11th) not even as far as pole 2. The sand was soft all over. My stupid self didn't air down and I had to go high (again, go at low tide!) through soft sand. A Jeep pulled me out. Wanted like $40 (and would take me wherever I wanted to go). I dug myself out and gave him a five after he said he'd do it for free. A friend got stuck pulling a 28' toy hauler with an F-350 (non-dually) when he didn't air down. Also seen a semi (yes, 18-wheeler) get stuck. Something like 8-10 HD trucks pulled him out.

If you drive right it is actually hard to really get stuck. Even without airing down, as long as you have momentum, keep your wheels rolling smoothly without speeding up or down too quickly, and avoiding sharp turns, you should be fine. When you go to park in the softer sand, go in at a slow pace. When done for the day, idle out nice and easy till ya get to the harder packed sand.
