I have a utility ATV and I was wondering can I ride it through dunes without any modifacations and if I can't what modifications would I need?

Yes U can

You might want to let your tire press down to say 3 psi depending on weight of your machine ( softer= bigger footprint =more grip)

Other than that you will be ok But dont expect to be climbing any big dunes or winning races

I've seen utes atop Sand Mountain here.

 

I want to go to Glamis but I don't know how well my dads quad would do.He has a 350ES would he be able to go or not?I have a 300EX how would that do?

 

I don't know about Glamis but Saturday there were dozens of utility quads on the dunes at St.Anthony. Including my wife on our Prairie they do OK just don't try racing sport quads up big hills. You can still have fun and play in bowls on them. Air down the tires and take it easy until you get a feel for what the utility handles like and can do in the sand.

 

Both of em will do fine. Just air down like mentioned before.

 

I know that mine won't have a problem still don't know about my dads. I was wondering what is it like at St.Anthony? we have only been to Silver Lake and we want bigger dunes

 

Another trick with the heavy lugged utility tires is to turn them around so the point of the V is facing backards. This is better for pulling sand into the middle of the tire and giving you more floatation, rather than scooping sand out towards the outside thus digging yourself into a big hole.

Always be sure to keep the throttle pegged and RPM's up........Momentum is key in the sand.

Have fun, and be sure to roost on some banshee's........just remember paybacks are hell though and they'll wash you down with tons of sand roost!

St.Anthonys is a Great place just do a search on here you will find people are willing to travel a long ways to come here. Big Dunes and lots of big steep bowls miles and miles of sand. Don't worry about the utility on the sand It will do ok as long as you don't try shooting big steep hills. There is usually a easy way around and even to the top of most dunes just have to go up a different side. He can still have fun and like was suggested turning the back tire around so the tread pattern is backwards helps them if airing it down wasn't enough.
