Get directions from Las Vegas to Fallon. Add 25miles to the hill.

Vegas to fallon is 384 miles. 384/average speed say 60 = 6.4 hours.

Yes that is the only area to camp. The camping area is sandy, but not deep sand. Here is a link to an old aerial photo of Sand Mtn. http://www.schweich.com/imagehtml/TM86NVSandMtn.html The mountain always changes but you can get an idea. My photo is from the highest point (about center of the picture) looking down to the right towards camp. Most people drag up the hill in the area of the two long camel backs that run up the longest point on the right. The backside of the hill is open to riding as well.

Aw common, that's nothin'

Sacramento to Oregon = 9+ hours and over 1000 miles round trip. (Did that in July.)
Sacramento to Glamis = 10.5 + hours (didn't count the miles). (Did over MLK Weekend. )
Sacramento to Gordon's Well = 12 hours (didn't count the miles). (Did it between X-mas and New Years.)

Sacramento to St. A's - That'll be July of '05 - Approx. 14+ hours.

Oh, the hours are travel time EACH WAY!

I'm sure there are others that travel further but, if you aren't willing to drive 10 hours on the West Coast to try out other dunes you really are limiting yourself. You may as well marry the woman that took your verginity and never look at another woman again as long as you live

Me. . . I like to enjoy the view Even if it means I'm in the car for a few hours.

As for the hill, as whoops develop the competition area changes. It will start in the middle then move to the left or right. There are three good hills that can all be seen pretty well from camp.

I'm very interested in how that 470 runs.

I'll have my Yellow DS with the black flag (with flames on it). Who knows what else?
