trx450r paddle questions

Got a new trx450r and I am wondering what you smart people think of the itp sand star 20x11x9
on douglas.120. I am an old toothless guy with no intention of jumping, just want v paddles to roost/corner nicely and do not have very much cash after purchasing this great machine, I think rockmountainatv has them for 187.00 or should I spend more and take the bitchin from the wife. what is the best cheap setup??

I've used Sand Sharks, Geckos and Haulers on my 450R. The geckos and sharks allow for easy sliding and I think the Sand Stars would be good for that too. I would think of going with a 160 rim tho.

You can you use stock tire on 20x11x9 tire, the stock will be as strong as .125, maybe even stronger.

The sand stars will hookup alot better than sharks or geckos but they won't slide as well. The stars also throw alot more roost.

They turn, not slide. Thats the point of a v paddle.

Thanks guys for the reply's on the sand stars, I think I will get the .160 rims after more thought considering the 14 year old son might be riding this when not on the 400ex. do yall think this would be the best size 20x11x9 or should i consider other sizes? hopefully it will not rub the tire on the anything. I only have been to glamis once and it was great and want to take the boy to see the wonderful place this thankgiving, he has only seen pismo, so it should be quite a thrill for him if he can keep up the grades long enough for mom to give him the ok( hell were goin anyway)

The 20" are great and work well on most atvs. I personally like the increased clearance of the 21" for softer sand and dune riding.

Either go with 21x11x10 or 21x11x8, the 8s will have more sidewall, but smaller rim, alot of people dont like the look of it.

I have the ITP Sand Stars on ITP C-series. I Run them on the front and back. For the back i would run the 20x11x10 on the .160's. The shorter size will help the gearing on the bike and there will be no clearance problems. The paddles work great the only downside that i have with them is the huge roost they kick out. Makes it hard for the person behind you to follow. Do not waste you money on nice polished aluminum rims get the Douglas. After one trip they will look dull from the sand, unless you like to buff. Go to http://www.onlineparts.com/ for the rims and tires I found them to be the cheapest for tires. I paid $450 for all 4 rims and tires shipped to my door, thats with the polished ITP C-series rims. Rocky Mountain is great for everything else though. Do not go with the Geckos.
