250 cc UTV on small dunes
Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone here has had experience with the following on the dunes:
1) A 250 cc UTV...does it have the speed/acceleration needed on sand to climb moderate dunes
2) The HISUN STRIKE 250
I have the option to either buy a brand new HISUN STRIKE 250 or a 2010 Polaris RZR 170 (used)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The Rzr 170 is meant for kids only, its not big enough for adults to ride in. The Hisun is a little bigger though. Here's a review from dirt wheels magazine that I found as soon as I googled hisun Strike 250 Dirt Wheels Magazine | UTV TEST: Hisun Strike 250. Maybe this will help. They seemed to give it a good review.

The Rzr would definitely be too small for you, Hisun might be a tight fit but unless you're really tall, it might be manageable. Another option would be an older used Yamaha Rhino. You'd definitely have enough power and room then and also 4x4. I see those used all the time in the $4500-$5000 range in good shape like this one, its even an efi 700 model https://stlouis.craigslist.org/snw/5990785171.html I don't know what you were looking to spend but a Rhino or maybe an older Polaris Ranger are much more versatile and capable than a 2wd buggy.

Hisun is Chinese but final assembly is in the US so the quality may be better than the completely made in China ATs/UTVs. If It was assembled in China I wouldn't trust it. The RZR is most likely made in China or Taiwan but the huge network of Polaris dealers would be a plus. Still, it's made for kids. I doubt either one would have enough power to have any fun in sand dunes.
