. Last year I was there and I looked into the buggy rental. I did not see any kind of quad rental. you can rent dune buggies that are two seaters for 90 dollars per hour the guy told us that you can not go up all the hills due to lack of power. and when i was out riding i seen a lot of them broke down. the cool thing that we did do other then just ride on the quads we did the jeep rentals. that was more of a reasonable price for the experiences since but you can not drive where you want to. there is a tour guide where you have to follow him/her and drive/do where they say

No one at Silver Lake rents quads although they used to years ago. There's the place RxRaptor referred to that rents two seater mini dune buggies, but they're powered by 20 HP Honda lawn and garden motors and are truely gutless. We routinely come upon them either broke down or stuck with unhappy people nearby. Do not waste your money on them. They're easy to spot; they are all red with the phone number in black numbers on the side of the body. The Jeep rental place with the tour guide that Rx was reffering to is called Sandy Corners. All first class people and equipment, but you have to follow your guide around like a puppy. That's cool for people who have never duned but I think your buddy would be pretty bored. There's a new place this year on the north side of the road across from Jellystone Park called "Parrot's Rentals" that Jeep Wranglers with no guides. They're not in my May 2002 phone book, but you might be able to get their number from the Chamber of Commerce (231) 873-5018. That would probably be his best bet, but probably won't be cheap. (Fun never is) Enjoy the dunes! Are you taking the ferry across or coming by land?

For car ferry info check out www.ssbadger.com or click Here Looks pretty relaxing (they have a cool website). Pricing and sailing schedules are on there also.
