Noise checks: If you go during the week, there are none (usually). Lack of man power. On the weekends, almost always. The state limit is 94 dB(A), the federal limit is 98 dB(A). This year you can get in with a 98 dB pipe. Next year it goes down to 97 dB(A) maximum, etc, until the 94 limit is reached. The RPM's that the check is made at is machine specific, 4 stroke quads should be in the 3500-4000 RPM range. What is absolutely needed all the time is a U.S.F.S approved spark arrester, even during the week. They have a plastic rod they use to check for the screen that they will run up the pipe if they're not sure. I was spark arrester checked EVERY time, sound checked only once during the week we were there. Sand is pretty flammable you know...

Here is what I saw....
One guy with an FMF on a 400EX got sound checked & tested at 98db. They told him to repack his muffler but let him in anyway. They told him they sound check every 7th rider. They don't though I was about 12th in line & none of us got it. They did check for spark arrestors though! One guy with a DS & HMF pipe did not have one. He rode more than 1/2 the day later when he went to get back in they wouldn't let him go. The DS rider saw my pipe & asked me if I was shunned away too. I showed him my spark arrestor & let him use it has a template. He went over to DARacing shop & bought screen & mounted it under his end cap. Even though it wasn't foresty approved they let him in. I heard they are much more laid back M-F than on the week-end though. The thing is they worry about quad noise yet these buggies & full size trucks with V-8 motors & 1/2 an exhaust get in. It seems backwards to me....
It amounts to basically stock quads only if they strictly enforce the rules. my advice, go during the week.
