Yeah as heavy as the 800 is, it's a lot lighter than my Dodge 3500 and a lot cheaper to replace...

We go a lot and I'd much prefer to have my 500 X2 go in because I can recover that with some help from friends where as my truck would cost about $10,000 to get that back and then insurance won't pay to have it repared or replaced after all is said & done.

I'll get some pics post in the next couple weeks because I have 2 outtings these next 2 weekends so I can get some pics. We have an Eskimo sled for 3 - 4 people and it's very heavy as well and my brother has an Otter which is even heavier, that he pulls with his 330 ATP.

I go Ice fishing alot but not to lakes were a truck would ever make it to. We use sleds but when the snow conditions allow we like to take the ATVs because there quieter and have racks for gear and are a nice change up.

Here is the best thing we ever thought of bring,is part of a back yard fire pit you can buy at any Wall Mart.

It alows use to have a nice fire right at the holes not just on the shoreline. The fish are Speckled trout or Brook trout as some call them.

Found out black labs do not like ice fishing. LOL

I use to spend a lot of time ice fishing and loved it. I went through the ice on a Mississippi River backwater several years back and got swept under the ice by the current. Horrendously frightening experience. Never went back to it. I get tempted every so often but the feeling of being trapped under the ice comes back and I just can't bring myself to take it up again.

The ironic thing was that I was really reckless out ice. I would fish on rotten ice, in spring when the ice was melting and there was water on the ice and leaves and other dark materials had melted through. I even went as far as to fish in ponds where I had to jump out to solid ice or put a ladder or board out into the pond to get past the melted edges. In all of that I never fell through. I fell through on good ice that was generally over a foot thick in weather that was about -10 or -15F. Turns out I hit a thin spot which had been eroded by current.

Always carry some ice spikes around your neck to get out if you fall through and even consider one of those small quick inflating life vests.

Here a few pics from this weekends outting on a very poor quality lake(nick-named the dead sea).

My brother caught the 1st 2 Northerns and his 18" Bass along with a shot of my trailer packed, ready to go and one of camp on the lake and finally a pic of me with the largest Northern caught that day aside from a couple of Bluegills that my wife caught.
