Looking for a website.....

I may be buying an ATV from someone local and he tells me they do not have the Title. Is there a website that I can type the vin into to see if this thing was ever stolen?

Thanks

Get the vin number, and find out what state (if you can) it was originally sold in. Then check with your local law enforcement. If they don't have the ability to check it, they should be able to refer you to who can.

Also, depending on where you live and ride, you may have to get it registered, which in some states requires a title.

I don't think I would buy any vehicle without a title unless the vehicle was so old it didn't need one. If the person is so interested in selling they should go to their registry and get a replacement before selling. Just my .02 worth.

i had general questions, i am soon to be a first time buyer of an atv and need to more or less advise from some of you guys who have been where i am. i wondering about buying used vs new, and if used like how many years old is ok to go with, and also miles. and for anyone who has opinions about wat brand/s might be better. some people said get a polaris sportsman 700 rather than a kawasaki brutforce, ya know stuff like that. the help with really be apprecitated........

I know in Texas, you can apply for a bonded title. I had checked on a vintage bike, and for me to do the work and get the title it was about 400 bucks.

So, depending on what the vehicle is worth to begin with might make a difference too.
