90cc for adult?

1 Attachment(s)
I bought a used Panterra 90 cc ATV for my son. I love the ATV. I fit pretty well on it and am satisfied with it's power. I'm considering buying another for myself. Am I going to overstress the motor by riding a 90cc myself. I weigh 220. Is there a reason I shouldn't be riding this size machine? My riding area is open farm land and a path through woods. I've had the current machine on this trail and it did okay.

If you enjoy it then ride it...Its way underpowered for a 220lb rider. If you had something bigger you would really have some fun...

Right now your boxing with no arms, get something that fits you and it will be a new life long passion!

atvkiller 04-14-2011 09:16 PM

i started out riding a 400 when i was 12 but now at 20 im wanting to go bigger and faster you will be much happier with somthing bigger but if you like it then ride it they can haddle anything

arcticjeff73 04-14-2011 09:58 PM

I used to have a eton 90 for my kids but hell I rode it all the time and it would go anywhere. One problem is I like to jump it a little and blew out the rear shock. that was my fault though. The 90 has enough power to ride around for sure! Go for it!

420Pimp 04-14-2011 10:27 PM

Let me just throw this out there, I started out on a 90 Honda when i was 6 and went to a 200 blaster at 8,so yea bro way underpowered ,but yea most definitely fun to ride period!

PissAnt 04-15-2011 04:33 AM

It's going to get old fast for you, meaning way under power. Suspension will have very little if any play. You'll be much happier with a bigger atv. Either way your having fun with your son so congrats!!!

BlackRaptor 04-15-2011 09:34 AM

I would agree with most everyone here.
If it was me and I wanted to spend very little I would look for an older trailblazer 250 or Honda 250. The machine will fit you much better and a lot more power to pull you around and the suspension won't be maxed. and it's an ATV from a major brand.

The person that has the Panterra to sell also has a BMX 200. I might work out a deal to buy both. Then my wife, son and I could ride.

I ended up buying a Honda 300EX for myself. It does fit me much better than the Panterra 90 does! I got a great deal on the Honda and the 4wd is nice to have. The darn this does take up a lot of garage space though!

Big man on a little bike, HaHaHa:lmao:

420Pimp 04-27-2011 08:25 PM

^^Dont be hatin...As long as you have a kick ass time...Just hold a beer up youll look like the random funny cool down to earth drunk dude that you dont know but randomly always comes out of no were at any pit party!

keithert 04-28-2011 07:51 AM

I now have a Honda Fourtrax 300. It is a larger machine with much better ground clearance. But that "little" 90 has low floorboards that allow it to fit me much better than a quad of it's size should. Also the "little" thing moves pretty well. The Honda feels slower because of it's much greater weight.

Not really that special. I call it 'My American V-Twin' and say I'm going to ride my American V-Twin around in circles.

ohhh- that kind of v-twin. Thought you were talking a 1000cc ctcle motor or something.

Yeh- I have Kohler 22hp twin on my Husky. ;)

keithert 04-29-2011 08:09 AM

It does make me wonder what one of these motors could do if tuned differently. I was shocked when I got it and read the size of the motor in cc's.

you ought to see what that style engine will do when modified and then the power components are "changed up" a little bit when people are drag racing lawn tractors/riding mowers. some of them suckers scoot pretty quick.

user493 04-29-2011 06:48 PM

I saw a lawn tractor with a motorcycle engine in it and it did wheelies. That was bad azz.

420Pimp 04-30-2011 09:53 PM

Ever been to a tractor pull? Its like top fuel pro dragsters but with torque and diesel. Fucking love it

Kyle Janulis 05-30-2019 06:58 PM

Good choice on the 300EX, worth the garage space lol You can always get a cheap aluminum shed on Amazon for storage for like $300
