what's too young- for a child to ride 2-up?
any atv'ers out there who have gone riding with their child on a 2-up for a few hours? how'd they do?
My 9 yo keeps asking to go riding with me on my outlander max- the trails around here can be a bit tricky and rough at times. he's been out with me many times for 30 minutes or so around the local trails and he loves it... I'm worried about him getting tired after a 4-6 hour ride in the mountains.... opinions? http://forums.atvconnection.com/pict...ictureid=42645 |
Well, he's probably more mature than you in many ways....
I've had kids as young as 6 or 7 if I remember right on the back seat of the X2. It was on railtrails though. Have had my petite wife out for some long rides and the X2 seat isn't as comfortable as the touring models out there. He'd probably be fine in my mind. |

My 9 year old son has ridden with me all day and on some pretty rough mountain trails. Just be sure he can stay cool/warm. And have some type of food for him. Mine got whiny when he got hungry. And he should be fine all day and have a blast. Have fun and good luck.

How not to go down a hill - YouTube My 400ex does this with ease! Look at those goofy gaukey utilities! But i'd say a kid on a big ole utility is going to be a lot of work for you to watch over. Watch from :30, i can only imagine that thing rolling over on the kid. Buy the child a sport quad! Something he can throw around that isn't so...... utilish.... cough coughhtwo-fifty-e-x... |

I'll dig more up as I have literally hundreds of riding pics in dozens of folders! like I said before- if there's a sportie following us- he won't be for long! |
My kids were on their own 4 wheelers (and 2 wheelers) since they were 5 yrs old. They went everywhere we did. They are grown now, but we take the grand kids (5, 7, 8) with us all the time now. They have no problem sitting on the back of my 800 tourer for hours while we ride.
