? Starter won't engage, new TaoTao Speed50
 

https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-a...213_143952.jpgWe just assembled a TaoTao ATM50 (may be the same as Speed50) and filled with gas. The electric systems seem to be functioning, but the starter, although engaging for the first couple of attempts, now doesn't engage. You can hear it just spin.
I can see gas in the little filter chamber.
Kick starting attempts don't start it.

I haven't played with it much because it's super cold right now (in Kansas City, Kansas, USA) , but I'll get to it tomorrow. In the meantime, what are the suggestions?

So there appears to be 2 problems.
1 the starter doesn't engage.
1 The kick-start method doesn't work either, so something besides lack of engagement is wrong.

And where is the manual url for this moped? I noticed the "owners manual" was written by someone with English as a second (or higher) language.

I now have found 49ccscoot's collection of manuals. I didn't see one for our particular brand, but the other brands are similar enough. Still, TaoTao should have its own.
