2011 sportsman 500 ho carb. Been running great til Friday. Rode all day and parked . Restarted and switched into 4x4 to load in truck blew main fuse and cut motor off. Took accessory fuse out and put into main and blew again.got home cleaned and let try thinking something fluke happened but blows fuse and makes motor die when engaging 4x4. Will run perfect in 2wd. I'm not a good electric guy. Any help would be great

 

Then sounds like you have a direct short either in the awd switch or the wiring leading to the front diff. Or could be at the front diff where the two wires enter into the diff.This was another place for bare wires to short out The wiring diagram in this cheap manual can help you track down the problem.2011 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO Service Manual PDF Download

 

Thank you. I'll check that out and see what o can find. Any way to tell if switch is bad
