1997 polaris scrambler 500cc liquid cooled 3 chain driven on demand
why can't I find anything on this forwheeler. It seems unique. It's not a 500cc ho Polaris scrambler. Just a 500cc 1997 Polaris scrambler liquid cooled on demand 4x4 3 chain driven. I have had for 15 plus years. Anyone have any idea what's the story behind them where do they fit in between explorez and high out puts . Like did they make an just quit make them or what? It's pretty fun to ride very adjustable. What parts could be interchangable. Etc thanks

Welcome to the forum Chris. Scrambler 500s have always been H.O.s but have never been advertised as such AFAIK. They had a longer duration cam, and a 40mm carb instead of the 32mm carb that the Sportsman 500 had. I believe the clutching was different too. Before Polaris made the Sportsman 500 into an H.O., people were getting Scrambler 500 parts to make an H.O. out of their 1996-2000 Sportsman 500. I don't know what year they went to a shaft-drive front end on the Scrambler 500, but I'd rather have one of those. My brother used to have a Sportsman 400 that had 3 chains like your Scrambler, and my friend had an Xplorer 400. Now my brother has a Scrambler 850 High Lifter and my friend has a Sportsman 850 that he's put a lot of miles on. Nether one of them misses having 3 chains to adjust. I looked around online and it looks like '97 was the first year they made the Scrambler 500, but they made the Scrambler 400 since '95. A lot of 500 parts are interchangeable with other years and models. You have to check each part to know what fits.
