What do you think of a Ruger Super Red Hawk 45 double action
#12
Take your hunting weapon load the ammo you want to use and then fire the first load (6 rounds) as fast as you can..re-load and attempt to do it again. I was taught if you cannot fire the 12 rounds in less than two minutes (or as fast as you can re-load the weapon) putting all shots into the kill zone with less than a 4" spread at no less than 25mtrs then your carrying to hot of loads for your hand/wrist to control a sustained accurate shot group. The last thing you want is a very pissed off Alaska Brown Bear or for that matter any really pissed off Bear closing down on you and your not able to put the rounds on your target before the animal runs you down. This sounds easy but it is not the hot loads fatigue your wrist not matter how strong you are and the second round of shots will be off.
My other hunting side arm was the Baby Desert Eagle aka the IMI "Jerico" .45 cal Auto, I filled it with 10 Hydro Shock rounds (11 with one down the pipe) and it cut the "X" out of a small bore rifle target at 40ft. Many times I carried the 45 over the 44 because I could carry more ammo and it was just as leathal and with its all steel construction it was just as durable as the 1911 .45 but it has a "polygonal" barrel which increased its accuracy by a factor of 200% without loss of control even after firing three full magazines or a total of 31 rounds of ammunition. This handgun functioned as cold as -35 in Alaska and as hot as +125 in the Mojave Desert.
