Default need help with bog red

got this big red 200es 1984 from my dad last year. restored it all over including top end engine. notice my engine is really hot but haven't been on it for a long time, could be normal. my question is, is there anyone out there that would know the temperature my engine should run at? thanks

Is it acting up because it's hot?
Air cooled motors get hot even on a short ride , I sure would not touch the motor even after it was running for only 10 minutes.

was just curious cause i've been driving a liquid cool for a long time. when i rebuilt that one, look like it was running really hot. did a check on it last night, got around 250 Fahrenheit around at top cylinder. right now it got a knocking noise sometimes, thinking my timing could be off a little. thanks
