Honda 300 4x4 making a clicking noise! Help!

I have a 96 Honda 300 4x4 which I love but it started making this clicking noise this weekend on a ride and
it is getting louder and louder. The bike is running fine, doesn't cut out or anything but I am concerned about it. The only thing I have done to it is change the oil, oil filter, air filter, front bearings and front brakes.
Has anyone else had this problem or can anyone offer a suggestion of where to start looking for the source of the noise?

Any help would be great!

sounds like you may need a valve adjustment.

A little more detail would help some. Is it from the engine? The front end? Rear end? The 300's do make a fairly loud "tick" or "clicking" sound when the valves need adjustment. Thats a minor fix job. Takes about 20 min. If you like your 300 check out my Honda 300 site. Don't forget the Lakeshore TrailBlazers section aswell.

It starts just fine but while I am riding or when it is idling it starts that noise. I am hoping it just needs the valves adjusted.

Thanks

You say that it "starts" that noise. Does it not do it all the time the engine is running? Next time you start it kneel beside the engine and see if you can tell if it's comeing from the left or right side, top or bottom. If it's not doing it all the time to some extent then it's probably not the valves. Valves sound like a 2 tone tick if that makes any sense.
