Ok, most any silencer+header kit for the 400EX is in the $400+ range... but the DG HP2 system (which includes silencer and head pipe) is only $220!! Am I missing something? Is the DG exhaust a complete piece of crap or what?
I've been looking at the WB E-series for my EX, just because everyone says it's the best, but would I actually be better off with the complete DG setup? The only thing I'm worried about is noise... I don't want my EX to be horribly noisy. An E-series with 8-12 disks is probly about as loud as I'd like to get. |
The DG system does perform well. On the other hand it is loud! But any exhaust that you buy is going to be loud....check around and ask some questions. By the way, you will probably want to get the version with the spark arrester (puts it up to about $300). On my 4 inch alloy system, the fit is good with no rattles.

So you own the alloy system? Have you heard other systems to compare the noise level? I'm just wondering if it's WAY louder, like a piped 250 2-stroke loud, or if it's just slightly louder than other exhaust systems (like the White bro's, DMC, or Supertrapp). Also, did you see a pretty good power gain from the complete DG system? Like more than you could get from just a slip-on silencer? Thanks for the info. :)

Sorry and I don't want to offend anybody But, DG sucks!!!!
|
Could you possibly elaborate on why you have that oppinion?
|
Just my opinion, there are ALOT better pipes out there! For a couple more bucks get one that you will REALLY like! Even though I'm putting DG down, thats just my opinion!

I think the HP2 is ugly. Considering there are
a million pipes out there for the 400EX, I think the DG would be a poor choice. If price is your main driver, there are many silencer only systems for around $200. I have a Big Gun, but it's pricey. Personally I like the looks of the Pro Circuit or the White Bros. R-series. |
For what it is worth. I have a complete WB e-series, and love it. My brother-in-law has a DG on his warrior and he hates it. We had to weld the seams to stop exhaust leaks and last weekend after a race we found that the front of the head pipe had actually cracked all the way around the pipe so he was sucking air back in. Anyway he put his stock head pipe and cobra jet slip on back on his quad.
