I was just wondering if you had any pics of the typeII with the luggage box thing on the back . Ya cant say honda wasnt inovative ,just inovative in the wierd lame kind of way. How about the first utility quads with the forward swingarms and vw type front ends.It took them a few years but they finally got it right. Thanks for the pic.

I wanted to post some input in that whole Mexican 200X thing. My brother often vacationed in Mexico during the mid to late 90's and saw the 200X Four Trax's first hand. He didn't know WTF they were but didn't get a chane to rent one. The pic Knowsalot shows in his gallery is different than the Mexican 200X, as anyone can see who views this thread. Must not have made it into production but I do believe that all the old 200X three wheelers were converted to quads and sold in Mexico and other countries.

This practice isn't all that remarkable because my brother also saw 400SS Chevy pick-ups while we had the short lived 454SS truck and two door Ramchargers with the semitruck style front end. Neither of these rigs were offered in the US. I don't know much about the 400SS but the 2 door Ramcharger was featured in Popular Mechanics and they said it wasn't offered in the US because it ddin't meet safety standards. Makes you wonder how well those 200X fourwheelers handled? Pretty crazy what we don't get to buy in the US! In Japan and/or Europe, you can buy a dual sport, oil injected Kawasaki KDX 200 motorcycle that is street legal.

 

Has anyone ever seen the Screaming Tiger trikes from the 80's?? This was the first 2-stroke I ever rode, it was in 87' or so... I had a modified 200X, and there was a guy at the track with a Tiger 200, I rode it and from what I remember it was the most brutal powerband ever, I remember shifting it and it falling off the pipe, then bumping the clutch and it lighting up the tires while sending all of these intense vibrations up my arms!! I have rode quite a few 2-strokes since then and never ever experienced anything as brutal since..... My CT370 LR Shee, is smooth and always has been, The 250R I used to own, had a hit, but nothing like what was experienced with the Tiger..... I remmeber getting off of it and admiring the smooth non-tiring smoothness of my X after I made a few laps with the Tiger!! [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]
Although, it was a successful venture via the Americans to CREATE A TOTALLY RACE READY Bike fresh off of the showroom floor... Is there any old-timers in here that has experienced the Tigers??

 

I remember seeing a magazine article on the Tiger. I believe the one they featured was a 500cc Rotax powered 3-wheeler. There was also a company called Franks that produced a race ready 3-wheeler equipped with a link type front end. Tiger was supposed to start producing quads but that never happened.

 

Maybe the type II wasnt what i was thinking of. It was a red honda but it had a huge red plastic cover trunk thing where the rear racks would have been. Three wheeler worlds web site is awsome and everyone should check it out.

 

The TypeII was the same as the "Turtle", but with the deletion of the trunk box and had front and rear racks instead.......I guess you could call it the "Type I"

All "Turtle 200" models had a 4 speed trans.......along with the first year model of the TypeII...........The TypeII got the 5 speed in 1992
