Default Got 04 Rancher 350 ES 2wd yesterday!

Just picked my new Rancer and it looks, handles and runs great. Next I need to slime the tires, and apply pipe insulation on the racks to protect them. I have a couple of questions how much tire slime should I put in each tire and how to protect the plastic from getting scratches? As far as scratch protection I was thinking of (1)spraying the plastic with Krylon clear coat or (2) just applying some camo tape over the plastic. What do you guys think? On the Rancher there isn't that much plastic to protect. I was just going to cover the plastic under the racks and on the rear fender where foot marks appear from mounting and dismounting.

Hey .45ACP
I use a spray polish that my Honda dealer carries called: Pro Honda Spray Cleaner & Polish. It comes in a 14 oz. aerosol bottle like a can of womens hair spray,the can is all black with red lettering trimmed in white This stuff is AWSOME, it cleans,polishes,protects your plastic and repels water like a wax does on your car it also keeps your plastic from fading and cracking in the sun, just spray it on and wipe it off, it sells for about $8.00 a can but WELL worth it.
I think it takes a 12 oz bottle of slime per tire if I remember correctly, one word of caution though, when you put that stuff in make sure you get all of it through your valve stem , my brother wound up replacing 3 valve stems on his Kodiac because as soon as the fresh air hit the slime it immediatly hardened up and he couldn't put air back in his tires.

Hey salutethegods;
Slime is a green liquid that comes in bottles for your tires. It comes with a kit to remove the inside of your valve stem than a hose connects to the bottle of slime and screws to your valve stem, just pour it in your deflated tire put the inner part of your valve stem back in fill with air and your done takes about 10 simple miniutes a tire.
If you get a tire puncture while riding the slime goes to the puncture hole and as soon as the outside air hits the slime it immediatly hardens to form a plug in the hole, it has saved me more than once. You can buy it in the automotive section of Wal Mart or about any department stores with an automotive section. The kit cost about $7.00 a tire.

Thanks for all the good info. I got the pipe insulation put on the racks and it looks good. One more question, what octane fuel does this baby like? I can't wait for next weekend. My buddy and I are taking his AC500 and my Rancher to the lease for trail riding.

I have not had good luck with slime. I prefer fix-a-flat these days.

The only problem with the slime is it's water based and promotes rust inside the rim. not saying it'll rust through or weaken the rim, if in there a long time it could damage the bead area.
