450R front fenders...something's wrong!!!
i have the 450R and the front fenders were advertised as being removable. well, mine have 2 rivets each holding them on. the standard bolts are there, but once you take those off there are 2 rivets still holding them on! what's the deal? is it supposed to be like this, and can i jus drill out the rivets and use jus the bolts to secure the fenders? thanx.

Man i was wondering the same thing. I was so close to getting them off then i looked up under the fender and to my horror, there were the rivets, so as of now they are staying on unless someone can give me/us some pointers...

what exatly do u mean by rivets? i know on my rancher ive got all kinds of pins and things holding the plastic together. on my rancher most of them once u take out the center, using a flat head screw driver, they jsut come out. once u push in the center it pushes out the outside of it make the end of it expand so it can not come back through the hole. i dont think the average sport quad has these so unless you have experince with honda utilities ( the only quads ive seen with these things) then u might not know of them

snowbuster, those fastners are very common on all hondas. my old 400EX had tons of them. if you look at the warning labels on your stock plastic, and you look at how they are held on, those are the rivets that we are talking about. on my 400 i took off all the warning labels by simply drilling out the rivets (i later found out that i drilled them larger than needed, i could have jus drilled out the center and punched them out) im drill out the rivets the same way i did my warning labels, its jus gonna take some time to get the whole side peice off. the first time i do that stuff i always take forever cuz i'm tryin to memorize where everything goes. lol. if anybody finds a way to remove the rivets without leavin holes in the plastic, let me know. thanx.

Their are two rivets and two bolts holding the fenders on. You will have to drill the rivets out. It works best if you use pliers or diagonal cutters to hold the rivets so they don't spin when you drill them. Their will be holes they were put their when the rivets were installed.

There's nothing wrong with that if you intend to unbolt your fenders than you will need to drill out the rivets.. After you drill the rivets out then you will be able to unbolt your fenders off when ever you want. There are people out there who will never unbolt there fenders so the pop rivets will stay on. I drilled mine out because Iwill unbolt my fenders often for sand riding but I will bolt them back up for trail riding. I am glad Honda gave us this feature!

Once you take out the rivets, as oldsandman suggested, get a set of the plastic clips from the delaer. Drill out the hole a littel bigger, then put those blsck clips in there. It will be tighter and you wont have a hole.
