2002 Recon ES - Won't shift out of Reverse
I bought a 2002 Recon ES for my wife and kids. We were using it this weekend and when you shift into reverse it did not want to shift back into neutral. The shifting sounded normal (no grinding, slipping or any of that) you could hear the clicking like you would going from one forward gear to another - once it was finally out of reverse and in forward gears - you could go up and down the shifting range with no problems. I have always had manual shift Honda's including my 99 300TRX and was reluctant to get the ES, but everything I read said they were reliable. My wife likes it because the platform is much bigger and easier to use. I did not try using the manual shift since once it came out of reverse - I asked them to just make turns running the ranch roads instead of backing up.
I took it to a dealer and they took through the gears and into reverse 5 or 6 different times with no trouble. Anybody have any idea as to what might be happening? I did have it sitting out the night before in the open and we got one heckuva thunderstorm. I wonder if something just got wet. Thoughts anyone? |
