450R Dumont Performance
The quote below is a statement about one race. I don't like being called a liar and that is why I addressed the earlier comments.
"he would only race me if we started half-way up the hill, past the whoops. A hill without whoops, what a joke!! Needless to say I beat him, when I started at the base of the hill and he started half-way up the hill"
I raced numerous other 450R's piped and not on the course of that day and into the night. The other 450R's at least would line-up at the bottom of the hill. As I stated earlier there were many disappointed 05' and 04' 450R owners that day.

Im lookin to get past all the pokin back and forth and get down to finding what really works when making mods to my 450R. I enjoy it but I cant run comp hill at Dumont in 3rd gear. I think part of it is the sandshark paddles I bought, they seem to be quite tall. I am lookin to spend some money on parts, and like the idea of the hrc cam kit, but I want to hear from the ppl that have already made the mods and what they think
Also, did you loose any bottom end
Does going to an aftermarket pipe help with the bottom end.
How do you like the changes of dropping to a 13 tooth gear in the front.
What paddles are you runnin
My riding style varies from las vegas outskirts, which if you live here, know how rocky it is, to Dumont dunes, to trail rides outside of kingman.
Also, on a dif subject, my pops has a 03 300ex which he likes very well, but wants to pipe it, any suggestions on what pipe to go with.

As for starting half way up the hill, given I only weigh 150 lbs, but as long as I lean foreward a bit and hold on, the front end will come up and my 450R climbs right on top of the sand. I have no problems going to 2nd gear and just rippin the rest of the way to the top. If I screw around and dont just drop the hammer, then shell burry me right then and there.

When I race the hill at dumont I can see how somone would want to start at the other side of the whoops on the 450R. Even with the dampening set on the rear shock, it really bucks me pretty hard. I think the shock is set more for a person closer to 200 lbs that really knows how to ride. I either have to hit the whoops just slow enough to wheelie over the next 2 or hit it hard enough to launch off the first to the third. I have yet to perfect the art of hitting the whoops just right as to skip off the tops. I have also noticed that the rebound has a nasty habit of coming back so fast as to try to buck me off either the front or the side. Watch the hill next time your out and you will see the guys on the 450R's either going sideways after about 2 to 3 whoops or they look like their trying to jump over the handlebars.
