i have logged over 300 miles on my rancherES 4x4 with ZERO problems on the ES!!!!!!! i would not buy the manual shift because it doesn't have the floordoards and lcd (as mentioned above). Once you get used to the ES, which will take about 20 minutes you will not want to go back!!!!
p.s.-----most of the shifting problems on the rancher can be solved by removing and cleanin the sensors. this topic has been discussed several times in the past. If your havin a problem with the ES shifting of a rancher just search the forum for past posts and do what they suggest. 99.9% of the time this will cure your problem. I have found the ALOT of dealer mechanics couldn't find their **** with both hands, a road map and help. I suggest a shop manual and some craftsman tools to any quad owner
