Zerk fitting in engine case for greasing swingarm bolt

Zerk fitting on engine case near swingarm
I assume the engine case is solid where the swingarm bolt goes through. I was thinking about drilling a hole through the engine case and then tap it for a zerk. This would allow greasing of the bolt where it goes through the case. Then, I would like to put a zerk on each end of the swingarm bolt and drill a hole through where the bearings are. This would allow greasing both bearings.
Do you think it would be a bad idea to drill the engine case?

I'm not sure why you would want to grease the swing arm pivot bolt where it runs through the engine case. The pivot bolt is static (does not rotate) and the engine case is static. So there is no reason at all to grease that area since there is no movement. However it is a good idea to lubricate that area before instalation to help with disassembley. Your idea for attaching a zerk to the actual bolt and drilling holes where the bearing are sounds promising. Let us know how that works out.

Semms, In case you are not familiar with the 400ex swingarm bolt, and problems assosiated with said bolt, These machines are notorious for having stuck swingarm bolts. The grease would act as an agent to to minimizing seizing.
And Quad2xtreme, Drilling the a hole into the cases is never a good thing, You're giving oil a new place to escape. Now, what you are thinking about placing a zerk in the end of the bolt, and drilling several holes in the bolt has been done with good results.

I wonder if that part of the case is solid though. I think it is.
I am giving some penetrating oil 2 days to free the stupid bolt from the engine. Otherwise, I will cut the swingarm loose and then press it out of the engine case. The engine case seems as though it may have a steel sleeve insert.
