i cant seem to get the R to idle without giving it some gas because if i dont give it gas it will stall. what should i do to adjust the idle??

isn't there a trottle adjustment screw somewhere on the carb or throttle cable?

Yes, there is an Idle adjustment. It is on the choke. Turn the choke clockwise to make it idle high, and counter clockwise for a lower idle (i think...been a while since I had my R)...its a pretty dumb setup but it works.

CHeck your throttle cable. You may have to adjust the cable.

If thats not working your carb may be dirty. Clean it with carb cleaner then blow it out with compressed air. Worked for me when I had this problem 2 weeks ago.

i think the throttle cable is streched because there is some slack when i took the cover off the throttle box on the bars. do i need to buy a new one?

Try droping your pilot jet down one size. The throttle wont make a diffrence in idleing unless it has NO slack, so your ok with that.
