REALITY....My 450 Foreman will handle anything I choose to ride through, up, down, whatever! Who cares what the HP numbers are, as long as you are happy with the way your machine preforms? Just my 2 cents! Jim.

I know this sounds anal ,but if you ever had physics then you would know that engines only produce torque since it is a circular measurement.Horsepower is a linear measurement.Horsepower is a deriavative of torque hence the formula.The more torque at a lower rpm is more effective (FOR PULLING) than A HIGHER RPM TORQUE READING.So torque is really always the same no matter what the rpm range just maybe less efficient.Horsepower say 20 hp at 2000 and 20 hp at 6000 are not the same.It will take more torque to produce hp at 2000 than 6000(hence the formula.So if the rubicon only makes 20 at 3000 but the polaris makes 38 at 6000 which is actually better?A long flat hp band is much better than a peakky high hp rating.That is relativellay thinking.The more weight the more torque you need.The less weight the less torque you need.

I did read the article, and I've also read many other articles on the same topic. You are misinterpreting the information. Torque does work. Horsepower is work/time, or the rate at which that work can be done, aka the rate of acceleration. Torque determines whether or not you can move a load, or do work. Horsepower determines how fast you can move that load, or how fast you can get the work done.

1. SAE Corrected means that a correction factor has been applied to the
results to get a power number that is comparable to other dynos in differing
climates and conditions.

2. We do not have a 4wd ATV Dyno. We do have a 4wd car dyno and we measure
the output of the front and the rear wheel systems. This is done at the
wheels only. It will give you front, rear and combined wheel horsepower.

3. I have no idea what Honda does with their dyno. All of our dynos measure
the output of what ever is spinning the drum. In the case of a motorcycle,
that is one wheel, in the case of a quad it is both.

4. I am not familiar with their testing but a motor optimized for torque
will show, in some cases, less horsepower than one optimized for horsepower.

There is no set hp for any machine none are the same I saw an advertisement for Dmc banshee pipes and it said"28 hp for stock" Maybe you shouldn't beleave everything you read.
