Motorhead,
I see your point about the 9". Your right, I was thinking about weight hauling, not strength to transfer alot of torque. I have a pick-up, so I was concerned with weight hauling ability. Your also right about doing any mods. Every after market manufacturer of rear end/differential parts makes one to fit a Ford 9". Same with a Dana 44, so when you decide to do your front end, you'll have lots to choose from.
Sounds like you have a killer stereo, cool! When I did mine I put a Soundstream head unit, 2 Rockford Fosgate Punch 150's, each one is bridged driving a MTX Blue Thunder 12" 4 ohm sub. I have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 75 running in stereo up front feeding a pair of Infinity Kappa 6x9 tri-ax in the doors. Thats about all the room I had!

Dang, sounds like you've squeezed quite a bit of stereo into that pickup!! Sounds like a pretty awesome setup, bet it's a real kidney-pounder!

The Dana60 would have been an excellent axle for me also, especially a full-floater. But the 9" was cheaper to buy and get parts for, and is also a great axle for my application, where it's not every carrying a lot of weight. I used to work at a lumber yard, and I felt sorry for all the half ton pickups that people would try to haul 3000lb of building blocks, the trailer hitch would dang near be dragging on the ground! But on the 1-tons, you could pile on as much as would fit, and they just kept askin for more! If I were going to build a pickup, like yours, I'd definitely go for the 1-ton axles.

You can't imagine how many times I had to measure and re-figure the box size to get the 2 12" subs in the cab of a standard cab pick-up. But I made it work! I was able to get a box big enough to make 1.6 cubes of volume per driver. Personaly I'm a man that believes in a sealed box for bass. So thats what I have. Lucky for me, I'm short(5'10") and moving the seat forward to make it all work wasn't that big of a deal!
I put a set of over-load springs in my truck as well as adding two more leafs to the main springs. So I'm good for about 6000lbs over the rear axle!

96 300ex w/ FMF - a little quieter but NOTICABLY FASTER!!
