recon 4x4?.....

ask yourself that question......it is in the same area of the market as the bearclaw (timberwolf)

quadrunner 250

artic cat

how many 4x4's of this size do you see in your area

sure there are a lot of 300 4x4 hondas but, honda directed the marketing of the 350 4x4 directly at honda 300 4x4 owners, by dropping the model......the 350 is seen as a 'step up'

you can look at it the same way as with the 450 2x4......(it might be a swtichable 4x4)

traditionally honda hasn't needed market coverage to sell motorbikes.......eg for years there biggest bike was the 300 4x4......and they still sold a heap of them!

the day they honda covers every aspect of the market will a sad day.......but good for the competition because it will illistrate that there product is on par with the competition.....therefore they will lose sales if they continue to ask a premium for there products....people will buy the opposition

i think hondas company policy has changed in the last couple of years and will continue to change as the atv industry 'evolves'.....if these extra models happen will we see a change in the industries pricing?...will hondas brand equity be eroded?.......just my opinion

A lightweight 4x4 is a good idea there are only two made right now both by Yamaha there's the 487 lb Timberwolf and 485 lb Wolverine.Polaris and Suzuki make a 250 4x4 but there nowhere near as lightweight.Would be nice to see a low 400s lb 4x4 quade.

i 4x4 recon would send all other manufactures back to the desing board for a entry level 4x4. the polaris is the best offering right now. It's cheap, reliable (if the owner does their part), and fairly nible. The timberwolf plain stinks and will probably be discontinued in a couple years. The wolverine is in a different class all by itself.

a 4x4 recon would be almost a certain shootout winner against the polaris. Not dogging the polaris because it is the best offering right now. just a recon would be twofold better.

i don't see the point in a foreman450 s/es 2x4. ther ranchers have that market covered and would be a much better choice for trail riding because of lighter wheight. the 450 motor has more torque but no more top end than the 350(329) so i just don't see that happening. the foremans would be better work quads i suppose...

I don't think the Recon has the power to turn another axle or push the weight that a 4X4 would add. The bike is great like it is-leave well enough alone!

i think honda should think about there sport market more.they just produced two new 4x4s. do we need another one? how bout a 500r or somthing. though they have expanded there sport market a little they need somthing to compete with the raptor and ds.

cartman308 10-22-2000 01:40 AM

right now nothing will compete with a 400EX in the woods. the new suzuki will be a threat IF/WHEN it comes out....
