why are some a-arms kinda gullwing shaped and some straight is there any bennifet for eaither type

The "gull winged" a arms are typically long travel and are bent to lower the shock mount point.

The gull-winged long travel a-arms are made mostly for track use. They get snagged easily on the trails.

Lots of desert racers out there running gull-winged. Nobody complaining about them snagging on all those rocks!

That may be, but I've got a buddy who has had to replace one of his lower a-arms on his YFZ after catching rocks.
