I would like your suggestions on important MX mods you have done to you 400EX. I am wanting my EX to be more able on the track. I am thinking of extended a-arms, and new shocks. What else do you all suggest that has helped you? Thanks for your help.

Which front shocks would you suggest? I have seen ads in the December DirtWheels that have PEP race front and rears, and TCS long travel shocks. The TCS are $650, and the PEP about $595 I think. Which would be better and why? Thanks again.

i love my TCS shocks, single jumps aren't painful anymore, as for other parts, diffenetly tires, wider axle, wider a-arms, and a shorter swingarm so you can turn quicker

I'm sort of on a budget, so does anyone suggest a certain shock/a-arm combination? I would be willing to pay quite a bit, but I don't want to go all out and pay for Custom Axis shocks. They're too much for me right now. Any help?

I was in my first race this weekend and the only problem I noticed is I couldn't get across the tabletops or doubles because the quad wasen't fast enough. If they were out of a corner or following another jump I couldn't make it across. I would invest in pipes and suspension. You might need more like a new air filter also. It was fun though.

Anyone know of a fairly good shock and a-arm combo? I am looking for the best "bang for the buck" setup. I wouldn't mind spending money on them, but I don't want to spend almost $2000 on a-arms and front shocks. I just don't think I could do it. I could probably be more likely to spend about $1000-1300. Any help?

WHen i am on a MX track i have no problems getting over anything. My 400ex is stock engine and shocks. I have tires and nerfs and a bumper. I just go threw a turn as fast as i can and just never let go of the gas. I usually make it with ease. I can keep up with guys that have so many mods it is hard for them to list. But i still win. Just go as fast as you can and never look back.

Ok, well if you are on a budget a grand to 1300 for a-arms and shocks I can recommend Krypton super a-arms. I ordered a set of these in +2+1 for my 250r and they ended up sending me a set of the super-moly arms for the same price cause they were out of the regular arms. They are 475 a set for the regular ones. They are fully adjustable and everything but for less price. That leaves quite a bit to spend on shocks and that depends on what you want. You can get PEP race shocks for 595, which are nice shocks, but not ZPS. You can get works, non adjustbale ZPS shocks for 589. You can get TCS ZPS and compression adjustable for 750. Take your pick. Or works triple rate with Res. for about 400. All of these are good shocks, some a hair beter than the others, but thats up to you if the price difference is worth it.
Also, you might look in the classified ads on this page for some used shocks and a-arms, I know for a fact there a quite a few used shocks for a 400ex on there right now. You can maybe get a good deal on some barely used shocks off there from someone who thought they needed axis.
Good luck.
