TRX 90 Recoil Starter Busted.....Lots of Other Damage Too
RR, I've been wondering if there wasn't something else going on too. I've had to rebuild our recoil starter several times (not because of pulling it while running, just dirt and a broken spring). I know that there have been a couple of times at least when I thought my son had turned the 90 off but left it runn and I pulled the cord to start it for him - couldn't hear it for the noise of the other quads and having a helmet on. All it did was make a lighe ratchet feel, not even a real sound. I guess if you just kept pulling and pulling it *could* catch on something. It actually sounds more like the interior assembly loosened up enough to allow the pawl to lift off of its pivot shaft. Whatever caused it, sorry for the huge repair bill, that sucks.
Off topic - I've been wondering if there is any way to modify a pre-06 TRX90 and add the '06 electric starter?

I could have saved a bunch of money (labor) by doing it myself, but with the holidays coming up I need the bike right away, and I just didn't have the time (just starter a new job too). The cool months (fall-winter-spring) are the big riding months in the desert, so while many of you are putting your machines away for he cold season, we are just starting to switch from high altitude mountain riding to the deserts.
